Planning a Summer Holiday? Don’t Forget Your Travel Health!
As summer arrives and many of our patients prepare for long-awaited holidays, it’s important to remember that some destinations require travel vaccinations to help keep you safe while you’re away.
If you’re travelling to a country where vaccinations are recommended, you’ll need to book an appointment with our practice nurse well in advance. This initial appointment is essential to carry out a travel health risk assessment using up-to-date guidance and to plan any vaccinations you may need.
💉 Important Information About Travel Vaccinations:
- Some vaccines are not available at the practice, including Yellow Fever.
- We do not prescribe anti-malarial medication, but we can offer advice on malaria prevention and direct you to a suitable provider.
- Many local private travel clinics or pharmacies can offer vaccines we don’t provide, along with anti-malarial prescriptions.
🕒 Book Early!
Please book your nurse appointment well in advance of your departure. Some vaccines require a course over several weeks and time to become fully effective. We are unable to guarantee last-minute appointments and if vaccines are left too late, they may not provide adequate protection before you travel.
🧳 In addition to vaccinations, our nurses can give you tailored travel safety and health advice relevant to your destination.
We wish all our patients — whether heading abroad or enjoying summer at home — a safe, healthy and happy summer season!
